Snow Day

Amber and I were scheduled in to take a photography class at Dick and Janes for our new Diana cameras, and for the second week in a row, it got cancelled. Last week because of the overcast sky, and this week because of the massive snow storm. WTF? It's May 28th. It's Calgary, I know, but still. So, instead, we went to the mall. First time I've been to the mall on the weekend since January. I try to hit it up during the week in the middle of the day, cause then you only run into mum's, babies and elderly mall walkers. That I can handle. It was busy, busy, busy there today. Either way, it was a good time. We even went for lunch. In a restaurant. With Reid. It was our first time eating in an actual restaurant. Wish I had my camera to document (note to self, with three cameras in the house, bring the point and shoot everywhere). It was a first for us!! Excitement.

Tomorrow a jolly jumper will be bought!!

Take me to the Candy Shoppe

We took a little road trip out to Canmore on Friday. We had just gotten our new car and wanted to see what it could do on the highway. Halifax has a super cool candy store called Freak Lunchbox. They have tonnes of weird and cool stuff in there. This little candy store in Canmore is turning into a Freak Lunchbox. It had tonnes of cool stuff and candies galore. I got a piece of milk chocolate covered caramel that was intense and amazing. Reid loved it too. All the colors had him going crazy. He was rambling on and on and on. Fun day trip!!

V-Dub of Love

We finally picked up our new car today!! It was quite the ordeal, let me tell you. First we ordered it at the end of January. Then the girl that we were dealing with left Fifth Ave Volkswagon, so we had to start over with another dude. Got a call at the end of March telling us that it was being made. And then we heard nothing after that. Christien called them every time he was back from work. Finally, they told us that we would be getting it mid May! We took a drive through the dealership on Sunday after our afternoon out, and saw it in the back with a SOLD sign on it. So exciting!! We had to wait until today to pick it up because they had to do the inspection and put the 3M coating on it for us. She sure is a beauty. Christien let me drive it off the lot. It had all of 11kms on it. We've been sitting in it and driving it around all afternoon. Playing with all the features and trying to figure it out. I still have no clue about the Bluetooth. Only that I am sinked up when I go in with my cell phone on, but we still can't figure out how to hands free dial and all that.

The touch screen media is wicked. I LOVE the panoramic sunroof too. And love that it has a sun shade in it. So you can still have it open, but you don't have to worry about the sun beating down on ya. Reid loves it too! He must have hit a milestone. Although he did have a couple of break downs on the way to and from Edmonton last week (he was just so hot), he's been super chill with riding around in the car when we're driving around the city. Which is such a relief to mum and dad. I have to thank Christine for the ingenious idea of hanging a toy from the handles in the back. Seems to capture his attention sometimes... And we put a little mirror back there for him too. He does seem quite content to stare at his feet lately, so that works too. Either way, we now have air conditioning in the car, so that's going to help for trips. We're going to test it out later this week, when we head out to Lake Louise. This car has definitely got some pick up. I wonder if Christien will let me drive it...???

Happy Mother's Day!!

It's my first mother's day!! Very cool indeed. Christien isn't here today, but Reid is!! I got really nice cards from my son and my husband before Christien went back to work. They also got me a very cool red patio lantern. Thank you!! My real mother's day present will be Reid having a good day today. That would be super fantastic.

As my two weeks by myself draws to an end, I find that we both aren't ourselves. I'm at the end of my rope with being the only one to change him, put him down for naps, cuddle him, and he's just sick of looking at me. So far we had a good sleep in today, so that's a bonus. Now I just want smiles and easy naps for the rest of the day!

A big Happy Mother's day to my mum!! I love you mum, and I have a much better appreciation of all that you have done for me. Especially for the things that you did for me when I was too young to even remember. Love you. Happy Mother's day to my mother in law, Cleo, as well. Thank you for all the love that you put into raising such a wonderful man who I get to share my life with. And finally, a big Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful mum's that I know. Especially to all the brand new mum's. Happy first mother's day to you!! Enjoy your babes, they love you to pieces.

Book Club Rocks

I love getting together with the book club ladies. Three years of book club and so much has changed, except the membership. We're still 8 strong. Sometimes someone misses a meeting, but for the most part we all get to see each other at least once a month. It's fabulous. I haven't had a lot of time to read since Reid was born, but I'm working on it, cause it's something that I like to do. I used to read on the train coming home from work everyday, and a bit before bed at night. Both of those reading slots no longer exist. I've started to read while I'm feeding the little guy. It might not be more then a few minutes at every feed, but at least I'm getting a bit of reading done. Sometimes I'll curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and a blanket while he's napping and get a bit of reading done then too.

Amber hosted a marvelous dinner last night. Make your own veggie pizzas! They were great. She's so creative with her host dinners!! Cash was unfortunately on a hunger strike, but he curled up in his blanket and had a nap for most of book club. Reid, on the other hand, was wide awake for all three hours that I was there. I wish that he would sleep like Cash. Nope, my guy will only sleep when he's at home, and you have to actually put him to bed. None of this sleeping in your arms (which makes me sad, cause sometimes I just want to cuddle him). He proceeded to have a screaming and crying fit all the way from Amber's to Deerfoot, then he decided to crash. I was so tempted to leave him in the car overnight. Kidding!! It was past his bedtime when we got home, so he settled down after a quick change into his PJ's and a little snack.

The last couple of book clubs were kind of mashed together for books. In March, Shannon chose Shadow of the Wind. I started that book, and just finished it a week ago. Very good read. In April, we choose The Slap at Jasmine's. I was really hoping to get that book read before Amber's meeting, but it was not to bed. Still, I will be picking that up on my trip to Chapeters today. For May, our book of choice by a landslide (sorry Candice) was The Happiness Project. Very excited to start reading that, and I'm thinking that it will be a quick read, and I'll be able to get The Slap in before the next meeting.

While the book choices are great, and nice to have someone else picking a book for you, it's still all about the company. I always look forward to getting together with this great group of girls. It's too bad that we are so busy and we can only do it once a month. Although, we are all starting to see each other more often on a smaller scale. Now with BBQ season fastly approaching, I'm thinking that we'll all get to see each other even more. Sunshine and BBQ's are the best excuses to get together!

Love to all you fabulous ladies!!
